Laws
The Laws of Duplicate Bridge 2017 and WBF Screen Regulations will be used.
Official Language
English is the official language of the tournament. During each match, the players converse only in English unless both captains agree that the players may use some other language.
Types of Contest and Tournament Format
The following events will be held:
1. Teams
4 rounds, 12 boards each. (1 hour 40 mins)
2. Pairs
6 rounds, 12 boards each. (1 hour 40 mins)
3. Individual
14 rounds, 7 boards each. (1 hour)
Screens will be used in all events. Bidding boxes will be used.
Vu-graph
There will be BBO Broadcast for all tables.
Scoring
BM II will be used as the official score input device. The scores will become official 30 minutes after the completion of each 2 rounds.
Board-a-Match, also known as Point-a-Board, will be used in all events.
2 points for win
1 point for draw (0-10 score difference)
0 point for lose
Points will be converted into Buffett Cup Points as following ratio.
Teams: 3 (Max. 576)
Pairs: 1 (Max. 576)
Individual: 0.5 (Max. 784)
Line-up and Seating
Teams: Line-up must be given to TD on or before Apr 23 19:00.
Pairs and Individual: Line-up must be given to TD on or before Apr 24 14:15.
Pairs and Individual: Line-up must be given to TD on or before Apr 24 14:15.
All players are not allowed to leave the playing area until completion of each two rounds.
Systems & Conventions
Multi, HUM systems and Brown Sticker conventions are not allowed. Psychic of artificial or conventional opening bids are prohibited. All pairs are required to bring 2 copies of convention card in Teams and Pairs event.
For Individual event, all players from same country will be required to use same convention card, failing which you will lose the board. Exception: Players can choose standard or reverse carding provided that they inform their opponents.
Alerts and Explanations
An alertable call is defined in the WBF Alerting Policy. It is the responsibility of the player to alert clearly. No explanation of the meaning of the alertable call should be made unless requested by an opponent.
Agreement of Results
The Captains are responsible for reporting any score discrepancies within 10 minutes after the official completion time of a match.
Late Start
0-5 mins 1st offence: warning
2nd - half board point
5-10 mins -1 board point
10-15 mins -2 board points
15+ mins. Walkover
Slow Play
0-5 mins half board point
5-10 mins -1 board point
10+ mins -2 board points
15+ mins. At the discretion of the Tournament Organising Committee
Request for Review
A Request for Review of the ruling of TD must be lodged within 30 minutes of the conclusion of the match. All Requests must be submitted by captains.
Mobile Phone and Other Electronic Equipment
Players and spectators are not allowed to bring their mobile phones, failing which 2 board points will be imposed.
Computer Dealt Hands
Same set of computer dealt hands will be played in every 2 rounds. These hands are generated at random with no special constraints or restrictions.
